Guest's Comments:

"Lovely, welcoming and comfortable cottage in beautiful location. Great for 4 adults as there are two sitting areas and two bathrooms. The pub a few minutes walk serves fabulous food with friendly service. We had days out to Mull, Glen Coe, Glen Nevis, Inveraray, amongst others. A wonderful holiday"  Lisa Sherwin - September 2020

"Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Went with our Grandsons aged 4 and 6 and think they would have been happy to spend every day in the lovely garden. Great location not too far from Oban which is a pretty seaside town with some lovely cafes and restaurants. Also can get the ferry there. We went on the 3 island tour (Mull, Iona and Staffa) which I would definitely recommend. Inveraray is a lovely little place and worth a visit. The pub just down the road from the cottage serves great food and the local village has a well stocked shop which opens til late. The surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful and we would definitely love to return."
Mrs Paramore - August 2019

"Comfortable, cosy, well equipped cottage. Lovely welcome from the very helpful Jo. Lots of wildlife to enjoy - we had a family of siskins on the bird feeder and even a red squirrel came to pinch the peanuts! We chose the cottage specifically because it was listed as dog friendly. There was a mat down for dogs in the kitchen and dog bowls provided, which was thoughtful. The bathroom was very close to the back door which was very handy when he got muddy. The cottage description says the garden isn't completely secure and it's not. You can wander in to next door's garden (their dog wandered into ours once). The garden goes quite steeply and boggily down to the Kilchrenan Burn, which he liked splashing in. It was fairly slow and shallow while we were there. The gate across the drive can't be closed and a small dog could walk under it any way. The road is quite quiet but you do get lorries in the day time and I wouldn't let a dog out in the garden unsupervised. He loved it though and enjoyed some nice walks within minutes of the cottage. We all had a great time at Oakbank and would definitely stay again."
Mr Horrocks - June 2019

"Had a very relaxing stay at Oakbank in June 2019. The cottage is very well-equipped and cosy, with a great kitchen/dining area that has beautiful views of the gardens and birds. Excellent pub two minutes down the road, very welcoming and good food. The cottage was well-situated for an enjoyable cycling holiday, would also recommend a trip to Kererra- small island near Oban."
Mrs Finzel - June 2019

"We had a good week in the cottage it was spotless and everything was very comfortable everything you could need for a family or a couple. The view from the Kitchen was very interesting. Lots of birds were attracted by the Bird feeders which we stocked up every day. They were a joy to watch from the huge windows in the kitchen and a very comfy settee ideal for two. The local Pub had just reopened and the food was excellent being a nice walk from the cottage. Fresh homemade food and a good selection of wines and spirits. Lots to do: the Castles, open gardens, Oban not too far away and Inverary Castle is not to be missed."
Richard Dearman - May 2019

"We've had a brilliant week at this lovely cottage.  Great trips to Kilmartin and Easdale.  Black Rock Curries recommended.  Crinan also interesting - we saw a sea otter there.  Managed to climb two Munros despite the weather and strong winds.  Saw an eagle."

"Stayed here before loved it. This time was even better we knew our way about cottage, still as homely as ever weather was cold but sunny, pub was open and friendly total relax for four days apart from intense eighty minutes during Scotland's victory over England in six nations. Will be back again for sure"
Mr Carter - February 2018

"Oakbank is a lovely 3 bedroom cottage in a remote place. The cottage has everything you could wish for, the kitchen is lovely with floor to ceiling windows facing onto the garden. There are 2 garden seats out the back where whilst enjoying a coffee in the sunshine you can hear the stream that runs along the bottom of the garden, and watch the birds feeding from the feeders which was so relaxing. Apart from a halve a dozen other little cottages dotted about and a wonderful little pub which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage where I can highly recommend the food, there is nothing else. There is no mobile phone signal at all either inside or outside of the cottage, however there is internet in the sitting room only. The road up to the cottage to and from the main road is not for the faint hearted it’s single track with passing places, but the view as you drive the road is lovely. If your looking for a lovely area to just unwind, enjoy the views and relax then Oakbank is for you."
Miss Wilson - September 2017

"On arrival the cottage exceeded our expectations. Efficient handover, and a generous welcome pack. Exceptionally well equipped. The beds, sofas and chairs are comfortable. Shower has great water pressure. Everything is sturdy, not cheap. The view through the kitchen/diner is amazing. Do buy bird feed from the local butcher, it will transform your holiday! If you want to eat out the pub has good fare, and there are two 4-5 star hotels within a couple of miles standing on the shores of a Loch. Up the road is Oban, a bustling town that has improved over the years, with many individual shops and restaurants. World class sea food available at several places. In Taynuilt there is a good butcher, post office and a general store. Nearby is Inveraw Smokery with top quality smoked fish and rarely seen foodie products. For excursions o'er the watter, ferries to Mull, Tiree, Coll and Outer Hebridies leaves from Oban. Fares are cheap compared to the English Channel and IOW services. Also possible to drive to Mallaig and take the ferry to Skye where my wife's favourite shop is in Armadale, Ragamuffin. A short way south is Inverrary with its castle, historic jail and small town. A little further is the Loch Fine Oyster Bar the original and best, still in family hands and not part of the eponymous chain. Fish dishes you do not see in the South e.g. Bradan Rost, baked smoked salmon. All in all a fabulous holiday at Oakbank"
Mr Breton - September 2017

"We were welcomed by the local housekeeper who showed us around the house explaining everything form where the extra fuel for the fires was to when the rubbish bins would be emptied. We were left a very generous welcome food box which included a loaf of fresh bread, cheese, chocolate an a bottle of red wine. The house was spotless warm and welcoming. One bonus was the bird life at the outside feeder, we had everything from sparrows to a wood pecker and a red squirrel Great entertainment."
Mrs Paisley - June 2017

"The cottage was perfectly situated - missed identifying the cottage while driving in the first time - having a Board will be welcome. However Jo the caretaker was there on arrival and showed us around - the facilities. Wonderful experience, well furnished and the kitchen was also spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately could not utilise the sitting out and barbecue facilities as it was winter, but surely a cottage worth coming back"
Mr Seshan - December 2016

"What a wonderful cottage! Love the mix of old and new furniture. Everything spotless and clean. Grounds and views amazing. Loved sitting by the window in the dining area watching the birds feed and the sun go down with a lovely glass of wine. Couldn't fault a thing! Thank you so much for your hospitality!!"
Mr And Mrs Howard - May 2016

"Oakbank was a great base to explore Loch Awe, Oban and Kilmartin / Lochgilpead. The cottage is well equipped and has a very spacious kitchen and a comfortable sitting room. Outside there is cycle parking in the greenhouse and you are left bird seed to feed the voracious appetites of the songbirds at Kilchrennan. We were surprised both by the generous welcome pack of food and a tour of the cottage by Jo who also kept an eye out for us during the week. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful which added to our experience including Ian at the local village stores who was a great help. In terms of places to visit then Loch Awe is fascinating and we would recommend hiring a boat and exploring the many crannogs and islands with early Christian sites. We also enjoyed days out cycling on the islands of Lismore and Kerrera as well as the fascinating Kimartin Glen and the Crinnan canal All in all a very enjoyable break we would recommend to others."
